Guernsey County developing new BMV office as it takes over control of the existing office

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio – Guernsey County took over control of the local state-run Bureau of Motor Vehicles office on December 18. It is now operating the office at the BMV’S current location on Dewey Avenue in Cambridge.

However, the county is now working on a new BMV office on county owned property at 405 Wheeling Avenue.

Guernsey County Clerk of Courts Jennifer Johnson and County Maintenance Supervisor Todd Carpenter met with County Commissioners to discuss the project. The new office is now being renovated to meet the needs of serving residents at the BMV and the project could be completed sometime in May.

The county was able to take control of the existing office to prevent its closing, which would have forced residents to go to the Zanesville BMV office.
