Cambridge, Ohio – The South East Area Transit Organization also known as SEAT is continuing its service to Guernsey, Muskingum, Noble and parts of Belmont County.
SEAT director Howard Stewart met with the Guernsey County Commissioners Thursday for its annual meeting to discuss the progress of the transportation agency.
SEAT provides both street bus service and individual ‘micro-transit’ service to residents in the area and helps with transportation for those working, the elderly and people in need of health services. The report indicates that transportation service is up in the area, but since Covid, it is still working to increase its street routes in the communities. In Guernsey County, SEAT provides 9 buses for both street and reservation services. Because of its service, SEAT is rated the largest rural transit agency in Ohio. On average, SEAT receives 697 phone calls per day for service in the area.
Some funding is provided by area counties in addition to Guernsey County Jobs and Family Services as well as the Ohio Department of Transportation.
